A Tribute to Survivors of Domestic Violence

“You may enslave me, you may lock me in a room, you may restrict my freedom like a bird in a cage, you may beat me, but you are not stronger than me because you will not crush my spirit. In the darkest recesses of the prisons you build for me, the light in my soul is still shining. The scars you inflicted on me only strengthened my resolve to rise again. I will reclaim the person I always was, but you would not let me be. I will sing again the song that is in my heart that you could not silence. I will rise again, I will rise again! I will be me.
